know how it feels when you treat yourself to the luxury suite at a
really nice hotel? That’s the same experience homeowners Adam Clingan
and Melissa Tipton enjoy everyday in their newly renovated master
suite…or more accurately, master “sweet.”
Adam and Melissa moved into their Brendon Hills home in February, 2008
and other than the master bedroom and bath, this 3100 square foot home
with a 4-car garage had almost everything they were looking for. “We
really wanted more functionability where the bathroom and closet was
concerned,” says Adam. “We had our vision for a master suite and this
just wasn’t cutting it!” After years of gathering ideas from magazines
and seeing features in other homes, Adam and Melissa knew exactly what
they wanted. The first step was to have a professional rendering done
of their plan so a contractor would be able to see exactly what they
wanted, therefore giving a more accurate price quote. “We had our ideas
and we knew what we wanted so we needed a company that could meet our
demands and not change them.”
After talking to several contractors, Peacock and Company was awarded
the job. “One of the biggest differences between Peacock and the others
was that they took the time to work with us in picking out every single
thing before we got a quote so there were no surprises in the budget
later,” recalls Melissa.
The original master suite left a lot to be desired…a small bathroom
with no window and two small closets, which were nothing more than
dressing areas. Today that space is unrecognizable, as the master bath
has doubled in size and the walk-in closet, well that’s nothing short
of huge. But it’s not just the size of the space that’s been enhanced,
it’s also the unique amenities that add so much comfort, pleasure and
efficiency to this home. For starters, the bathroom now features a tile
floor with a radiant heating system. Because this type of heat doesn’t
rise, it provides comfort while reducing energy costs. A luxurious
digital shower system was installed that stores up to six different
water temperature and spray intensity levels so everyone in the house
can have their perfect setting at the touch of a button. Then there’s
the beautiful and efficient, not to mention romantic, double sided
fireplace that overlooks both the large soaking tub and the bedroom.
The neutral beige color scheme is enriched with wood cabinetry, a
granite vanity and soft turquoise tiles randomly placed throughout
which conjures up the look and feel of a waterfall flowing through the
room.
Step inside the new walk-in closet and anyone who loves clothes and
shoes will surely think they have slipped into paradise. What was a
second bedroom next to the master bedroom is now home to wall-to-wall
clothes hanging bars, a floor to ceiling roll-out shoe caddy and a
granite-topped center island that is fully equipped with a small
refrigerator and a safe. “We both have a lot of clothes so this is
definitely big enough for the two of us,” says Adam.
The total remodel job took about two and a half months. “We did a lot
of different things…we thought outside the box and wanted to have
features you’d see in a $500,000-600,000 house work in a
$200,000-300,000 home and it can be done…it sure doesn’t hurt to ask!”
says Adam. “We really do love all of it,” adds Melissa.
