Project Spotlight: Granger Mudroom Addition

Our clients were exhausted by their dismal and limiting mudroom. This tiny space housed their washer and dryer and functioned as a pass-through. It was certainly not a welcoming space for familiar guests who entered through less formal means and it lacked the storage space and elbow necessary room to accommodate their busy life and bouncy dog. Our client dreamed up and designed this mudroom and laundry addition herself. They chose to bump out their existing entryway and created a nine-by-six-foot addition to house their decadent custom mudroom addition. In our opinion, this is the perfect size for a mudroom.

Top Brass

Brass fixtures are increasingly popular for a reason. From cabinet pulls to the laundry tub faucets, their timeless and tasteful look is perfect for this understated space. Warm brass is also featured in the art-deco-inspired statement light fixture. Every detail is on point and nothing is overlooked, even behind closed doors. The inside of these gorgeous lockers features more bold and sturdy brass hooks to handle the volume of outwear required for even the coldest midwestern winter. 

Custom Details for Days

This is a one-of-a-kind mudroom laundry room combination, beginning with the color of the cabinets. We love this serene custom blue, curated to exactly the right hue. Beautiful and functional lockers line the wall for maximum storage, customized to meet this family's unique storage needs. You should see all of the places we made for tucking away shoes! The built-ins are best in class. Every mudroom needs a place to take off your muddy shoes! We built this sturdy and sleek wrap-around mudroom bench with gorgeous walnut and stained it highlight the rich wood.

Throughout the project, subtle details sing in simplicity and brilliance. For example, the semi-built-in washer and dryer allow for easy maintenance and daily use. We especially love the thoughtfully placed hanging rack built into the laundry station. Fighting stains and hanging delicates to dry is intuitive and easy.

This client has an eye for attractive and classic touches. We crowned the lower cabinets in pristine white marble and added a complimentary and clean marble tile for the laundry station backsplash. Adjacent walls feature sleek and stylish custom wanes coating and mullioned windows that compliment the texture of the recessed panel cabinet doors.

The Mud stops here

We are thrilled that our client allowed us to include Charlie in the project spotlight photos (and did you spot him in the custom painting by the window?) There is plenty of room to wipe his paws, serve him dinner, and store his gear now! Our clients tell us that Charlie loves to scale the benches, greet approaching friends and watch the world go by. He has claimed this space and improved it with his presence! The remodel is half for him, after all.
