They say necessity is the mother of invention, but in home remodeling, necessity is often the mother of a really good excuse to finally update that kitchen you’ve been dreaming about. When this Granger family faced unexpected water damage, they had two choices: restore what was there or take the opportunity to create something truly special. They chose the latter, and we were thrilled to help bring their vision to life.

With decades of experience in kitchen remodels, custom cabinetry, and whole-home transformations, we love partnering with homeowners to craft spaces that fit their lifestyles perfectly.
This project was no exception! What started as a challenge became a stunning, cohesive remodel that blends style, function, and a few brilliant problem-solving moments. Let’s take a closer look!
The homeowners had high-end appliances in mind from the start, and their choices, particularly the Wolf appliances like the double wall oven and a professional-grade range, shaped the overall kitchen design into understated luxury. When it came to maximizing storage, we weren’t cabinet-shy. Storage was another priority, including floor-to-ceiling cabinets and a kitchen island with a stovetop, allowing for seamless meal prep and entertaining.
Beyond function, this family was ready for a brighter, more welcoming space that felt custom yet timeless. The combination of natural wood tones and powder blue cabinetry struck the perfect balance, adding personality while maintaining a classic feel. The final design incorporates warm brass hardware, a full-height quartz backsplash, and sleek built-ins that make everyday tasks effortless.
At the heart of this Granger kitchen remodel is a large island that features the following.
On the opposite side of the island, the kitchen’s beverage station serves as a dedicated space for coffee and cocktails. This area includes:
A key challenge in this project was designing the ventilation system. With the range located in the kitchen island, traditional venting options were limited. The solution? We carefully integrated a low-profile overhead ventilation system to ensure proper air circulation without obstructing the open layout.
Another thoughtful design choice involved kitchen outlets. Instead of interrupting the full-height backsplash with visible outlets, the homeowners opted for plug mold under cabinet wiring, keeping the stunning quartz backsplash uninterrupted while ensuring easy access to power. While the kitchen was the star of this remodel, the second-floor laundry room was an equally important part of the transformation. The homeowners had always wanted a more functional and stylish laundry space, and with renovations already underway, it was the perfect time to make that vision a reality.
Laundry rooms may not be glamorous, but having a beautiful one sure makes loads of difference. This laundry room remodel maximized space while incorporating several key features.
The layout ensures smooth workflow and organization, with the washer and dryer positioned for easy access, a designated space for air-drying clothes, and thoughtfully placed storage solutions that make every step of the laundry process more convenient.
The primary goal for this laundry room was efficiency. The existing space lacked sufficient storage, organization, and folding areas, making laundry a more cumbersome chore than it needed to be. The homeowners wanted a crisp, polished look that felt modern and timeless. The deeper blue base cabinets bring warmth and richness to the space, while the white upper cabinets keep the room from feeling too heavy. Chrome hardware ties everything together, providing a clean, streamlined finish. A quartz countertop offers plenty of gleaming space for folding while maintaining an elegant appearance.
Beyond the kitchen and laundry room, the homeowners wanted their entire home to feel fresh and updated. One of the most impactful changes was refinishing the existing hardwood floors. Over time, the original oak flooring had developed a darker, reddish hue that no longer matched the homeowners’ vision. Instead of replacing it, we lightened and refinished the hardwood, minimizing the red undertones and bringing a more neutral, modern look to the space.
This decision enhanced the home’s brightness and allowed for a seamless transition between rooms. The refinished flooring paired beautifully with the kitchen’s natural wood island and light blue cabinetry, creating a warm, cohesive feel throughout the home.
Other finishing touches that made this home sing in the same consistent key include fresh paint throughout the main level, further enhancing the bright, airy aesthetic and updated lighting, from statement-making hoop pendants over the kitchen island to subtle task lighting under the cabinets. We loved working with this fantastic family and treasured the opportunity to fit their family home to their incredible style. Because the only thing better than a dream home is one that doesn’t require you to move to get it.
